On April 10, Fidae will bring together stakeholders from the fields of science, industry, entrepreneurship, and defense at the Dual Hub Summit, the flagship event of the Dual Hub platform, which aims to foster collaboration and technological development with a broad-based impact.
Dual-use innovation has evolved from a trend into a critical priority. This concept, which drives the development of technologies designed from the outset to have applications in both the civilian and defense sectors, is now key to building countries’ autonomy, resilience, and industrial capacity. While powers such as the United States, European nations, and China are moving forward with robust policies in this area, Latin America is already beginning to formulate its own strategies, and Chile is emerging as a key player in the region.
This leadership initiative will reach a major milestone on April 10, 2026, when the fourth edition of the Dual Hub Summit takes place. The event will be held as part of Fidae, Latin America’s leading aerospace, defense, and security trade show, serving as a strategic platform to showcase Chile’s technological capabilities to global markets.
This event is being organized by Dual Hub, a platform created by Know Hub Chile to serve as a collaborative framework that brings together the public, scientific, industrial, defense, and entrepreneurial sectors to foster dual innovation.
Dual Hub is a platform launched in 2019 by Know Hub Chile. It is a collaborative framework that brings together the public, scientific, industrial, defense, and entrepreneurial sectors.
KNOW HUB CHILE AND DUAL INNOVATION
Know Hub Chile is an organization specializing in technology transfer and the coordination of innovation ecosystems, which has played a key role in establishing dual-use innovation as a strategic national priority. Through Dual Hub, it has fostered effective collaboration between science, industry, and defense, accelerating the development of high-impact technologies and helping to strengthen Chile’s and the region’s technological sovereignty.
In this regard, Javier Ramírez, executive director of Know Hub Chile, emphasizes that “Chile has a unique opportunity to position itself in dual innovation, but that requires moving from isolated initiatives to a coordinated strategy.” Dual Hub aims to do just that: connect capabilities that are currently scattered and transform them into concrete solutions with real impact, both in the civilian and strategic spheres.”
One of the core values of the Dual Hub Summit is precisely to facilitate these connections. “When different sectors get to know one another, understand what each is doing, and begin to collaborate, real opportunities for development emerge. Dual innovation requires this kind of coordination to move forward,” adds Ramírez.
The partnership with Fidae reinforces this goal. With more than four decades of history, the trade show is Latin America’s premier aerospace and defense event, providing a platform to showcase the ecosystem through an integrated approach and strengthen international ties. This edition also highlights the collaboration with the Chilean Air Force (FACh), which will present its own Dual Innovation Model at the event, demonstrating how various stakeholders in the ecosystem are beginning to develop and integrate their own strategies around dual innovation.
Initiatives such as the Fortis Challenge, in partnership with the aerospace company Lockheed Martin, and the Avante program in collaboration with the Chilean Navy, demonstrate how this approach translates into concrete results for the ecosystem.
Sponsored by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) and in partnership with leading organizations in technological development such as CDTI, TNO, Fundación Chile España, Lockheed Martin, Oracle, Raylex, and CKSA, the Dual Hub Summit has established itself as a premier forum for advancing dual innovation as a driver of development in Chile and the region.
