The first edition of the Dual Hub Summit brought together more than 200 people in the Biobío Region, marking a milestone as Chile’s first national gathering on dual innovation. On May 6 and 7, 2025, representatives from academia, the defense sector, industry, and the startup community participated in a unique collaborative forum designed to link scientific and technological capabilities with the country’s strategic challenges.
Organized by Know Hub Chile in collaboration with the University of Bío-Bío, the event sought to bring together worlds that traditionally do not engage with one another. With funding from Corfo and sponsorship from Lockheed Martin and Saab, the program addressed topics such as the space economy, shipbuilding, and regional capacity building, in addition to presenting examples of dual-use innovation in Chile and abroad, including advancements in exoskeletons and the development of the National Space Center.
The first edition of the Dual Hub Summit established a platform for strategic collaboration between civilian and defense stakeholders, launching joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s productive sector and accelerating its technological development through an integrated and sustainable approach.
